Pinarello Q36.5 continues its transfer campaign with a new signing, Ethan Hayter. The British rider, born in 1998, has signed a two-year contract with the Swiss team: he comes off a Vuelta a España where he was a protagonist, earning the most combative rider of the day award three times.
This very propensity to seek action, rather than simply waiting for opportunities, is a key element of what Hayter intends to bring to his next professional adventure. «I would describe myself as a complete rider. Over the last two years I've focused more on time trials, but I've also won in small groups and I love harder races and stage races. At the Vuelta, after coming close to success in the time trial, it was great to throw myself into the mix and race on the attack. It's an approach I want to maintain».
And further: «Pinarello Q36.5 was one of the teams I really wanted to join. I already know some of the riders and I understood it would be the ideal choice for me».
Hayter will also strengthen the team's British core, becoming the third London-based rider in the squad. His connection with some of his future teammates dates back well before turning professional, having grown up in the same cycling club in London during their youth. For Hayter, joining the "Home of Cycling Innovation" also represents an opportunity to work in an environment where performance development goes beyond racing itself.
«For me, innovation means never settling. It's about constantly seeking new ways to push beyond your limits and become faster, through training, nutrition, aerodynamics, bikes, wheels, tires or clothing. Having a direct relationship with the brands is exciting, because rider feedback can really help make equipment better. We're the ones pedaling and testing the materials every day, and that experience can prove invaluable when working in synergy».
Team Principal Douglas Ryder added: «Ethan is a racer born for racing, and that's precisely what excites us about his arrival in the team. He possesses extraordinary power, he's extremely strong in time trials and, as we saw once again at the Vuelta, he's ready to take the initiative in the race and create opportunities rather than simply waiting for them. We also believe Ethan has significant room for growth. He's joining an ambitious environment where riders and technical partners work closely together in pursuit of maximum performance».
