It's contract renewal time at Pinarello Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team: the contract extensions for Xabier Mikel Azparren, Marcel Camprubí, Walter Calzoni and Frederik Frison are now official, a decision that reinforces the team's commitment to continuity, growth and building solid foundations for the seasons ahead.
Azparren will remain with the squad until 2028, Camprubí has committed to the team through 2029, while Calzoni and Frison will continue racing in Pinarello Q36.5 colours until 2027. The four riders represent different profiles and career stages, but they share fundamental qualities for the team's sporting project: commitment, reliability and a willingness to race for the collective good.
Xabier Mikel Azparren | 2027–2028. A constant, solid and reliable presence throughout 2026, Xabier Mikel Azparren has further established himself as one of the team's most versatile riders. The twenty-seven-year-old Spaniard played a crucial support role during the team's historic first Tour de France, contributing to Tom Pidcock's ninth place in the general classification, before competing in the Vuelta a España later in the summer. At the Vuelta, he managed to balance team duties with the opportunity to pursue personal results, finishing sixth on stage ten and tenth in the individual time trial of stage eighteen. His strength, versatility and ability to fill different roles make him an important element for the team's future structure.
Marcel Camprubí | 2027–2029. Marcel Camprubí's three-year extension represents a clear investment in a rider who has grown within the team's environment and continues to make significant progress. The twenty-five-year-old achieved the most important victory of his career in June, becoming Spanish Road Race Champion and earning the right to wear the national champion's jersey. His growth continued in the second half of the season, including his participation in the Vuelta a España, where he finished fifth on the demanding nineteenth stage with its finish at Peñas Blancas. With his long-term future secured through 2029, Camprubí will continue his growth trajectory within the team as his potential and racing responsibilities increase.
Walter Calzoni | 2027. Walter Calzoni will continue to be part of the Pinarello Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team in 2027, following a season that highlighted both his tenacity and potential. After overcoming a challenging first part of the year, the twenty-five-year-old Italian made an encouraging debut in a Grand Tour – the Vuelta – finishing ninth on two difficult mountain stages: the Sierra de la Pandera (stage 14) and the Collado del Alguacil (stage 20). These performances once again confirmed Calzoni's climbing abilities, providing a solid foundation on which to build his growth in the coming season.
Frederik Frison | 2027. Experience and reliability are fundamental elements for a winning team, and Frederik Frison possesses both in abundance. The thirty-four-year-old Belgian has built his career on unglamorous work, the kind that often doesn't appear in the standings: protecting the captains, controlling the race, positioning teammates and bringing calm and experience during the most intense phases of competition. At 1.93 metres tall, Frison is an imposing presence in the peloton, but he is equally valuable within the team. His professionalism, his spirit of sacrifice and his ability to protect and support the leaders make his presence in 2027 a key element for the balance of the squad.
Douglas Ryder, Team Principal of Pinarello Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team, stated: "Building a strong team doesn't just mean signing new riders. It also means valuing the people who are already part of our journey, who understand our working methods and who want to continue growing with us. Xabi, Marcel and Walter are at different stages of their development, but all three have shown they still have much to offer." Marcel's Spanish champion title was a special moment for the entire team and a perfect example of what can happen when talented riders are given the environment, trust and opportunities to grow. Xabi has demonstrated incredible reliability throughout an intense season, from supporting Tom during our first Tour de France to aggressive racing at the Vuelta, where Walter also showed his climbing value. Then there's Fred, and every successful team needs riders like him. He understands race dynamics, comprehends his role and, in moments of pressure, you know exactly what to expect from him: he's a rider capable of bringing out the best in his teammates around him. We're building this team with the future in mind. We want to develop our riders, create opportunities and continue to elevate our collective level. These four renewals guarantee us continuity, experience and potential: exactly what we need for the next phase of the project".
