The curtain is about to rise on the first road race of the Montreal World Championships, reserved for women Under 23. The athletes will face a challenging 134-kilometer course, equivalent to ten laps of the city circuit that winds through Mont Royal park.

Leading the Italian delegation will be the Marche native Eleonora Ciabocco (Team Picnic PostNL), current Italian champion and fourth-place finisher last year in the world championship held in Rwanda. Joining her at the start will also be the Treviso native Gaia Segato (Vini Fantini BePink) and the Vicenza native Giada Silo (UAE Development Team), who achieved a brilliant fifth place in Kigali 2025 in the world championship race for the junior category.

The three Italian riders will seek to carve out a leading role in the first road race of the Canadian world championship, competing against the best of the women's Under 23 world cycling scene.

Among the main contenders for victory stands out especially the British Cat Ferguson, a true star of the category and the favorite going in. The young English rider can already boast two world titles won among the juniors in Zurich 2024, in both the road race and time trial. Alongside her will be her compatriot Imogen Wolff, another athlete to keep under close watch.

Canada, the host nation, also aims high, entrusting its ambitions to Sidney Swierenga and Ava Holmgren, while France presents itself with the talented Marion Bunel. The spotlight is also on Belgium, which fields the duo formed by Fleur Moors and Emma Sieger, not forgetting the Dutch Rosita Reijnhout, the Czech Julia Kopecky and the German Justyna Czapla.

Among the contenders for a leading role are also the Spanish Paula Ostiz, junior world champion last year in Kigali, the Australian Talia Appleton and the American team led by the sisters Katherine and Alyssa Sarkisov.
