Following yesterday's elite time trials, the Under 23 riders take to the road today at Montreal 2026. On this subject, it is worth highlighting the gesture of great solidarity shown by Mads Pedersen towards two young compatriots. The Danish rider from Lidl-Trek, road race world champion in 2019 at Harrogate, has decided to finance the participation in the Canadian World Championships of two Under 23 athletes who were excluded from the selection for financial reasons.
Denmark had six places available for the Under 23 road race, but the federation could only cover travel and accommodation expenses for four riders: Kristian Egholm, Mads Landbo, Patrick Frydkjaer and Noé Andersen.
Left out were Kevin Biehl, riding for General Store Essegibi F.lli Curia, and Emil Nymand, of Team NSN Cycling Devo. To allow them to also participate in the world championship event, Pedersen decided to step in personally, raising the necessary funds through an auction of some of his memorabilia.
The fine gesture by the Danish champion was also publicly appreciated by national team coach Michael Morkov, who wanted to thank him for the support offered to the two young riders.
