Elisa Longo Borghini has once again demonstrated her value at the Cycling World Championships in Canada, finishing the time trial in fourth place. The victory went to Swiss rider Marlen Reusser, followed by British cyclist Zoe Bäckstedt in second place and German Franziska Koch in third. Longo Borghini completed her race 50 seconds behind the winner, a result that, while not earning her a podium finish, was welcomed with great enthusiasm on her part.

After the race, Elisa expressed her satisfaction with the result: "As far as today's result goes, I'd say yes, I'm thrilled. I didn't expect to ride such a strong time trial". "I knew I was in third place, but I also knew that the strongest riders still had to start. However, when I crossed the finish line, I thought: 'Well, that's an excellent time'. I don't know what to say, I'm simply happy and satisfied", she added, showing her feelings of joy and accomplishment.

The cyclist revealed that she had faced a difficult period due to a knee problem, which had affected her preparation: "I'm happy because I've been through a difficult time at home... well, not exactly difficult, but I had a knee issue". Despite these difficulties, the Piedmont-born athlete has proven to be one of the best Italian cyclists of all time, with an impressive palmares full of successes.

In light of this performance, Elisa hopes to win a medal in the mixed team time trial and in the road race, where she will strive to give her best. "It seems the situation is improving, although it's not completely resolved yet. I don't know, I'm simply satisfied with my performance", she said, reflecting on her current form.

Looking at the intermediate times, the Italian gained ground in the final section of the course, an aspect she highlighted: "It's true, in the final part it's possible to gain time. For my characteristics, the final section was definitely better, because there were some short, steep climbs where I could attack; I believe I gained time precisely on those small hills"

In conclusion, Elisa Longo Borghini is looking forward to competing in the other races of this World Championship: "I'm satisfied; I don't focus so much on the final result as on my performance, so it was really a good day for me. And now I can't wait to participate in the team race. I'm really excited and want to give my best".
