Yet another tragedy, yet another young life taken away. Yet another young cyclist, this time from Sicily, just 16 years old, resident of Terme Vigliatore: Cesare Bonvegna. Yesterday afternoon Cesare lost his life in a road accident along state road 185 of Sella Mandrazzi, in the Giannicola district, in the municipality of Mazzarà Sant'Andrea.
"According to initial reconstructions the young man – as written by Donato Martucci in the Gazzetta del Sud – who until the age of 13 had been an athlete for the Asd Ciclistica Terme Vigliatore cycling club and for some time had been competing as a junior for Team Bike Siracusa, was training on his bicycle heading towards Novara di Sicilia, when for reasons still being investigated he would have collided head-on with a car driven by a woman traveling in the opposite direction. Despite the prompt intervention of 118 emergency responders, every attempt at resuscitation proved unfortunately futile: the paramedics could do nothing but confirm the boy's death due to the serious injuries sustained in the violent impact. The carabinieri of the Furnari Station, under the command of Marshal Giovanni Catanzaro, and the mobile unit of the Barcellona Company are conducting the necessary investigations into the reconstruction of the collision dynamics and any possible responsibilities".
