Mapei, a global leader in the production of chemical products for the construction industry, is Main Partner of the 2026 UCI Road World Championships, scheduled for September 20-27 in Montreal, Quebec. The event will bring the Road World Championships to the Canadian city for the second time in its history, following the 1974 edition.
A week of great challenges
The 2026 edition will feature an eight-day program with 13 races in total, including individual time trials, mixed team relay and road races for Junior, Under 23 and Elite categories, with approximately 1,000 athletes competing from over 80 countries.
The Elite women's and men's road races will take place on September 26 and 27, starting from Brossard and finishing in Montreal. The women's race will measure 180.4 km, including 8 laps of the 13.4 km city circuit, while the men's race will cover a distance of 273.7 km comprising 12 laps of the city circuit.
A bond that goes back a long way
Montreal holds special significance for Mapei. In 1976, exactly 50 years ago, the company supplied the products for the construction of the athletics track at the city's Olympic Stadium, during the Olympic Games. From that experience began a growth trajectory that led Mapei to establish itself permanently in Canada in 1978 with the creation of its first foreign subsidiary. Today, Mapei is a firmly consolidated reality in the country, with its main site in Laval, Quebec and a production and distribution presence across Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia and Alberta.
"These 2026 UCI Road World Championships in Montreal hold particular significance for us – declares Veronica Squinzi, Chief Executive Officer of Mapei – It is indeed in this city that the roots of our history in the world are found and, in particular, in Canada, the first country outside Italy where Mapei decided to invest. Being today Main Partner of the World Championships in this same city, fifty years after that moment, means celebrating a history made of vision, growth and connection with the territory. It is also a way to renew our commitment to cycling, a sport that continues to best represent the values we believe in: passion, determination and teamwork".
A partnership consolidated over time
The bond between Mapei and cycling has its roots in 1993, when the company entered the world of two wheels by supporting a professional team that, until 2002, achieved 654 international victories. Since 2008, Mapei has maintained its presence in cycling, confirming itself every year as Main Partner of the UCI Road World Championships and thus consolidating its historic relationship with this sport.
This year, the presence in Montreal takes on an even stronger value because it unites sport, territory and community. In this context, the Build to Give project is also included, an initiative through which Mapei Canada employees will assemble 99 bicycles during the World Championships, in collaboration with local organizations and with the support of Cycling Canada. The bicycles will then be donated to children and families in vulnerable conditions, transforming the world championship event into a concrete gesture of inclusion and giving back to the community.
International visibility
During the UCI Road World Championships, Mapei will be present throughout the entire route with its logo, visible on banners, award ceremony backdrops, dedicated areas for press conferences and interviews, as well as on all official communication materials. The company will also provide a dedicated Hospitality Area for its clients, offering them a privileged position to follow the races just a few hundred meters from the finish line. The Championships will be broadcast on major television channels across all five continents, guaranteeing significant international coverage. In Italy, the event will be visible on Rai and Eurosport channels.
The Montreal Road World Championships represent not only a sporting event of absolute prestige, but also a moment of particular symbolic value for Mapei. The 2026 edition combines, in fact, the story of a major global sporting event with a fundamental chapter in the history of the Group.
