Among those returning from the GP de Montréal who will also compete at the Worlds, not many are choosing to spend these final waiting days in the Canadian city. Being a major American metropolis, training comfortably and away from traffic proves difficult, so almost everyone has opted to head in different directions. Even some of those competing in Sunday's time trial have preferred to leave Montréal for a few days.

Remco Evenepoel and Paul Seixas, accompanied by their respective national teams, made the same choice, heading to Bromont, a couple of hours from Montréal, where there's a renowned ski resort for locals. We're not talking about high altitude, as we're at 500 meters above sea level, but the rolling terrain of the area is certainly more conducive to preparing for a World Championships. Both will return to Montréal before the weekend, however, since they'll race the time trial, then head back to Bromont for another couple of days before the road race.

The time trial should feature Isaac Del Toro as a protagonist, barring last-minute changes—the only big name who decided to stay in the Montréal area. The Mexican has been in America for quite some time, having been on an altitude training camp in Boulder, Colorado, before heading to Quebec for the two Canadian races, and preferred not to move again.

Boulder is the same location where Tom Pidcock will head in these coming days, making him the one traveling the farthest, as it's a 4-hour flight from Montréal, with the added advantage of not racing the time trial. The United States is also on the agenda for Giulio Ciccone and all the Lidl-Trek athletes, who have organized a small training camp in Stowe, Vermont, three hours by car from Montréal, for their riders competing at the Worlds. Again, we're not talking about Alpine peaks, but several areas in the region reach altitudes of up to 1,500 meters.

The Italian national team will stay on the outskirts of Montréal and will begin welcoming the various time trialists starting today, competing on Sunday and then Tuesday in the Team Relay. Alberto Bettiol will also be with them, coming off a very strong GP de Montréal performance. He was somewhat undecided about staying in the city, not racing the time trial, but ultimately chose to join the Italian group right away.

"In two weeks, physical condition can change completely," Del Toro said the other day after his victory. So maximum caution and concentration in these final days separating us from the world championship races.
