The thirty-three-year-old Belgian from Jayco AlUla has truly had a run of bad luck: last March he was the victim of an accident at the Ronde van Brugge, suffering fractures to his collarbone and hip that required long months of rehabilitation and recovery.

He made his racing comeback after five months at the Renewi Tour and yesterday, on the second day of racing, he was caught up in the major crash that occurred 67 kilometers from the finish in Ardooie: the result, another broken collarbone and a couple of fractured ribs, inevitable surgery and another break for what has truly been a season to forget.
