We have cheered for her time and time again, but today more than ever the entire cycling world must stand by Chiara Teocchi. The biker from Bergamo, Italian national team member at Paris 2024 and one of the most promising athletes in Italian mountain biking, is fighting with the tenacity inherited from her mentor Felice Gimondi.

On Sunday, July 5th, the 29-year-old from Team BH Coloma and serving with the Italian Army fell at La Thuile during the elite women's XCO World Cup race. While Italian champion Martina Berta crossed the finish line with arms raised, her national team teammate was transferred directly to the hospital for various tests. The tests performed led doctors to subject Chiara to surgery.

While Chiara was under the knife, some complications emerged, which her team discusses today in a press release: "Her condition improves day after day. Chiara continues to make progress with assistance from medical staff. Chiara wants to thank everyone for the love, support and encouragement she has received in recent weeks. Every message has meant a lot to her and her family during this difficult time. We ask for respect for Chiara's privacy and the time she will need to focus on her recovery. Further information about her condition will be shared when appropriate and with Chiara's consent. Thank you for your continued support and understanding".

Now that we know how steep the climb she is facing is, we are all cheering for her. Come on Chiara!
