The Federal Council, at its meeting on July 20, 2026, has ordered the placement under administration of the Professional Cycling League due to repeated and serious violations of federal regulations and the agreement signed on August 13, 2024, appointing General Mauro Capone of the Carabinieri Corps as Commissioner, who will meet with the members at a meeting at the end of the month.

Mauro Capone, Brigadier General in the reserve of the Carabinieri Corps and civil engineer, has accumulated over thirty years of experience in Public Administration, holding positions of increasing responsibility within the State Forestry Corps and the Carabinieri Corps. A graduate in Civil Engineering from Sapienza University in Rome, he holds a Master's degree in Marketing and Sport Management from the CONI School of Sport.
In the sports field, he held executive positions for over twenty years in the Forestry Sports Group, first as head of the Track and Field section and later as General Secretary. He represented the Forestry Sports Group at the Olympic Games in Turin 2006, Beijing 2008, London 2012, and Rio 2016. Since 2025, he has been president of ASD Natura e Sport.
During his career, he contributed to the management of one of Italy's most prestigious multi-sport organizations, the Forestry Sports Group, boasting a record of over 50 Olympic medals, 300 world championships, 300 European championships, and more than 1,200 national titles.
Officer and Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic. In the sports field, he has been awarded the CONI Silver Star and Bronze Star for Sports Merit.
