Reaching thirty participations in the Tour de France is no small feat and, precisely for this reason, the Groupama-FDJ United, a French team of great tradition that more than others "feels" the Grand Tour at home, will do everything to celebrate it properly by finally trying to secure that stage victory that for seven years now it has been unable to achieve.
With this mission clearly in mind, the team's sporting directors have selected for the imminent Grande Boucle the newly crowned Italian champion Romain Gregoire (a rider whose explosiveness will allow him to leave everyone behind on the toughest finishes), a resilient rider like Ewen Costiou and the timeless Guillaume Martin-Guyonnet.
Supporting these three designated leaders, but nonetheless with the freedom to seek personal glory by launching themselves from far away, will be Clement Berthet, Quentin Pacher, the promising Clement Braz Afonso (best climber at the Tour Auvergne - Rhône-Alpes), Clement Russo and our Lorenzo Germani who, after having participated in the Giro d'Italia and Vuelta España, will have the satisfaction of taking part in the first Tour of his career.
There is therefore no room in the end for the much-discussed David Gaudu who, following anonymous revelations from a teammate regarding the deterioration of his reputation within the team, will not officially be part of the race on the roads of France, postponing his appointment with the first major stage race of his season to the possible Vuelta España in August.
