After two relatively flat days and certainly very fast ones, the landscape of the Giro Next Gen changes decisively with the third stage that will take the peloton from Sibari to Villa d'Agri di Marsicotevere for 169 km with an elevation gain of 3,200 meters.

This is effectively the first mountain stage of the race. From Sibari the climb heads towards the Valico di Campotenese crossing the Pollino massif, then continuing into the Lucanian hinterland on a constantly undulating route. The final stretch towards Villa d'Agri is demanding with the Viggiano climb culminating 15 km from the finish, ideal terrain for the first confrontations among the general classification contenders.
