Isaac Del Toro has won the Tour Auvergne - Rhône-Alpes 2026 and has therefore secured the sixth stage race of his young but already excellent career, the third of the season after the UAE Tour and Tirreno-Adriatico. Del Toro is the 53rd rider to write his name in the roll of honour of the race, as well as the first Mexican to triumph in the history of what until last year was known as the Critérium du Dauphiné. Furthermore, he is the first cyclist ever to conquer both Tirreno-Adriatico and the French race in the same season.
The number of nations that have won the transalpine competition at least once rises to 15. In the 78 editions held so far, 149 riders have finished on the podium. Luke Tuckwell has brought Australia back to the top three years after the 3rd place achieved by Ben O'Connor in 2023, Juan Ayuso has allowed Spain to return to the podium twelve years after the 2nd place obtained in 2014 by Alberto Contador.
Two stage wins and the overall victory have allowed Del Toro to reach 8 victories in World Tour races this season. Only the Dane Vingegaard (12) and the Slovenian Pogacar (9) have done better.
Yesterday Jasper Philipsen won the Copenhagen Sprint and collected his second World Tour victory in 2026, bringing Belgium's tally to 8 wins in the main UCI circuit this season.
