Who will toast at the Italian Road Cycling Championship in Piedmont? Sparkling wine, truly fitting given the wine-producing excellence of the territories being crossed, can only be provided by the host Region. The start will be from Asti, which already hosted the tricolor race in 2017, and will arrive in Cuneo after 240.6 km: a full day and tribute to the scenic beauty of the Granda Province on Saturday, June 27, which will likely be a matter for fast wheels.
Taking shape, with reports from the Asti edition of La Stampa, the route of the Elite Men's road race, which after Antignano and San Martino Alfieri will immediately enter the Cuneo area. Beneath the riders' wheels, the asphalt ribbon will become a tribute to countless views among vineyards, then reveal the charm of Alta Langa, touch the Cebano and Monregalese areas (Vicoforte Sanctuary a cycling must-see), the foothills at the foot of Bisalta (Boves and Borgo San Dalmazzo) and then Cuneo, after approximately 180 km. Here, a lap will begin leading to Busca, then featuring a return on the final circuit of the provincial capital, coming from the historic arcaded center and Piazza Galimberti to reach the finish line.
There is also the time trial chapter, Thursday the 25th, between Vicoforte Sanctuary and Barolo: 40.2 km that from the Monregalese locality (finish location at the 1995 Giro and three times starting point of stages of the pink race) will lead to the town where this spring the Frenchman Laurance won the first stage of the Coppi and Bartali. In between, a succession of places rich in historical references (Dogliani, birthplace of Italian President Luigi Einaudi). From Monchiero, the final climb with descent towards Barolo.
