He was the first unfortunate rider forced to withdraw from the Giro d'Italia, stopped by a concussion following a crash in the opening stage, but he has reacted like a champion and quickly found his way back to victory: Matteo Moschetti triumphed today in a sprint finish at the Veenendaal Classic, contested over a distance of 179.5 km.
The Milan-based sprinter of Pinarello-Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team imposed his authority, finishing ahead of Spain's Peñalver of Polti VisitMalta and Dutchman Biesterbos of Team Picnic PostNL. A solid fifth place for Tommaso Bessega, a neo-professional also riding for Polti VisitMalta.
