Two victories in the first two mountain-top finishes. Not perhaps a complete domination, and not yet wearing the pink jersey (which sits on the shoulders of young Portuguese rider Alfonso Eulalio), but enough for Jonas Vingegaard to respect his role as the great favorite of the 2026 Giro d'Italia. A double that confirms the bookmakers' predictions: as reported by Agipronews, the Dane's triumph in his Giro debut is worth 1.05 on Snai and 1.09 on 888sport. For the Visma Lease a Bike captain, it would mean completing the "Triple Crown" of the Grand Tours, after the Tour and Vuelta. Austrian climber Felix Gall is the only one who has come close to Vingegaard's pace in the mountains, and he is indeed the first alternative on the betting board, offered at 12.50, ahead of Dutch rider Thymen Arensman (23.00) and Australian Jai Hindley (25.00), winner of the Giro in 2022. A significant drop in odds instead for Italian cycling's great hope, Giulio Pellizzari. Before the start, the rider from the Marche region was seen as the main rival to the Danish champion, but after yesterday's collapse, he drops from 5.00 to 29.00. The Red Bull-Bora captain (alongside Hindley) remains however the favorite for the white jersey as best young rider, offered at 2.75, but closely followed by Frenchman Mathys Rondel and fellow Italian prospect Davide Piganzoli, at 7.00 to 1.
BEST CLIMBER AND POINTS CLASSIFICATION – Jonas Vingegaard's victories on Blockhaus and Corno alle Scale have already allowed him to wear the blue jersey as best climber, a classification in which the Dane confirms his favorite status at 1.25. But keep an eye on Giulio Ciccone, seen at 6.00 to repeat his 2019 success, banking on mountain breakaways where he hopes to secure at least one stage victory. Jonathan Milan is not living up to expectations: the Italian sprinter was considered the number one candidate for the points classification, already won in 2023 and 2024, but in the sprint he has so far had to give way to Frenchman Paul Magnier, wearing the cyclamen jersey with two stage wins: the Friuli native rises from 1.65 to 6.00, level with Ecuadorian Jhonatan Narvaez of UAE Team Emirates, who has won twice in breakaways. Both are chasing the Soudal sprinter, seen at 1.33.
