Countdown to one of the most important international sporting events of the year in Abruzzo. From May 7 to 10, Montesilvano (Pe) will become the world center of paralympic cycling, hosting the final stage of the Para-Cycling Road World Cup, the Para-Cycling World Cup, organized under the auspices of the Union Cycliste Internationale.
After the races held in Thailand and Belgium, the Adriatic city will host the last and decisive appointment of the international circuit, with over 550 paralympic athletes and delegations from 50 nations. Overall, approximately 1,500 people are expected, including teams, coaches, support staff and organizational personnel, with significant benefits for the territory from a tourism and promotional perspective.
The organization of the event is entrusted to Team Go Fast, with the support of the Union Cycliste Internationale, the Italian Cycling Federation, the Italian Paralympic Committee, the Abruzzo Region and the Municipality of Montesilvano.
For four days Montesilvano will be the beating heart of international paralympic sport, transforming itself into a world showcase dedicated to sport, inclusion and accessibility.
The competition village has been set up at the Pala Dean Martin, while the races will take place on an urban circuit of approximately nine kilometers.
The time trial races are scheduled for Thursday, May 7 and Friday, May 8 along a technical route developed on the city's waterfront. Saturday, May 9 and Sunday, May 10 will instead feature road races, which will cover a wider area of the city to allow for the management of the high number of participants.
There will be 50 nations present at the Para-Cycling Road World Cup in Montesilvano: Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Spain, Estonia, France, Great Britain, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Indonesia, India, Ireland, Israel, Virgin Islands, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Latvia, Mexico, Namibia, Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Oman, Peru, Palestine, Poland, Portugal, Romania, South Africa, Russia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Slovakia, Thailand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Ukraine, United States and Uzbekistan.
