Demi VOLLERING. 10 out of 10. Like Tadej Pogacar, she wears an all-white kit (she is European champion), like the Slovenian she attacks on the Redoute using the same weapons as the Slovenian, namely breaking her rivals with her pace after having her team set an exceptional tempo. From there on she manages her advantage and energy to avoid running out of steam in the finale: mission accomplished, just as her third victory at Liège is. Truly a great performance for the number one cyclist in the world, just like Pogacar...
Puck PIETERSE. 8. Her collection of top placings this season keeps growing richer: sixth at Strade Bianche, fourth at Sanremo, third at Flanders, second at Freccia and second again today at Liège. She is ready to make the big leap in quality even if perhaps she should consider a different winter approach, in the style of Van der Poel.
Kasia NIEWIADOMA - PHINNEY. 8. The Polish champion deserves credit for never giving up, fighting to the end with every ounce of energy and claiming yet another important podium in her career, concluding a spring that had started with a terrible crash on the descent of Cipressa.
Anna VAN DER BREGGEN. 8.5. The quick burst has never been her best weapon, so it makes sense that she lost the podium in the sprint, but at 36 years old she delivers yet another performance of the highest level. A message to the young riders: watch and learn...
Isabella HOLMGREN. 7.5. Twenty years old, coming off a ninth place at Freccia, the Canadian from Lidl Trek doesn't settle for a top finish but achieves it at the end of a race tackled with boldness and the desire to always try to upset the odds.
Paula BLASI. 6.5. Dominant at Amstel a week ago, she never manages to get into the thick of the action on the Ardennes climbs. But she has the certainty that she can improve.
Elisa CHABBEY. 7. On the col de Haussire, the first climb of the day, she was the first major protagonist to make a move with Sara Casasola, Nienke Vinke, Femke De Vries and Riejanne Markus. Her attack immediately made her rivals understand what kind of race FDJ United - Suez would run and how things would unfold. She finishes seventh with Julie Berthet ninth behind her: two perfect domestiques for captain Vollering.
Monica TRINCA COLONEL. 5. She is the symbol of Italian cycling that in this northern campaign has struggled like it hasn't in years. She is not at her best but doesn't make excuses: "I no longer had the legs to try to break into the top ten". The season of the grand tours is just around the corner, hopefully we can see some Italian tricolor back on the podiums that matter.
