It will be the picturesque town of Telfs, nestled at the foot of the Wetterstein massif, that will host the start of the second stage of the Tour of the Alps 2026. Telfs harmoniously blends Alpine tradition with a modern lifestyle. Its Mösern district is famous for the Friedensglocke des Alpenraumes – the "Peace Bell of the Alps" – a symbol of unity among Alpine regions, and for being the place where the Working Community of Alpine Regions was founded in 1972.

In terms of the general classification, the answers will come precisely in today's stage, which will take the peloton from Tyrol to South Tyrol, from Telfs to Val Martello for 147.5 km. The Pillerhöhe climb (9 km at 6.2%) is tackled at the start and then with the Resia Pass (16 km at 3.3%) we return to Italy. However, the stage will be decided on the concluding climb, which with its 5 km at 8.9% is destined to deliver the first verdict. The ascent will end 1,500 meters before the Val Martello finish: a highly selective finale, already decisive in 2014 at the Giro d'Italia with the solo effort of Colombian Nairo Quintana, who precisely in Val Martello claimed his first pink jersey, laying the foundations for his triumph in the Corsa Rosa.
