Cycling returns to Chiesina Uzzanese, where an important amateur race once took place. It is one of the novelties of the 2026 cycling season and the date is August 27th when the Giro della Toscana women's race will start, organized by the Michela Fanini team and its organizational director Brunello Fanini, who is celebrating his thirtieth anniversary this year. It will be an individual time trial through the streets of the town center of just over two kilometers, to open hostilities after many editions that started from Campi Bisenzio and last year's edition from Viareggio.
“We had been thinking for some years about involving the Valdinievole town in the race – says patron Brunello Fanini – we finally managed to do it; this is thanks above all to the great availability of the mayor and his administration. It will be a celebration because the entire caravan and all the cyclists coming from all over the world will stop in town for an entire day; from morning to late afternoon, from registration operations, to team presentations, from the start of the first athlete to the finish of the last one”. Approximately 170 athletes from 25 teams are expected, of which 5 are World Tour teams, representing all continents, in this brief time trial challenge with start and finish near the Town Hall and some tricky curves along the two-kilometer race route. Satisfaction also from the mayor of Chiesina Uzzanese, Fabio Berti. “We are pleased to host such an important event for an entire day – he added - proud that a small town like ours becomes a protagonist on the international stage”.
The Giro della Toscana, dedicated to Michela Fanini (the patron's daughter) and in memory of her mother Giulietta, will have three other stages in addition to the time trial. These will be three stages to be defined, suited for sprinters, for those who excel in the mountains, and for those who prefer rolling terrain.
