FC Südtirol and the Tour of the Alps are joining forces once again to promote sport, sustainable mobility, and raise awareness on road safety. Two years after their first collaboration, the Serie B football club and the euro-regional cycling race for professionals are coming together ahead of the 2026 edition (April 20–24), which will conclude in Bolzano, just a few hundred meters from the Druso Stadium.
In the South Tyrolean capital, one of Italy's leading cities in terms of cycling path kilometers and bicycle usage percentage, FC Südtirol and the Tour of the Alps will be protagonists of several co-marketing initiatives, starting with the return of the Bike Day, which two seasons ago was welcomed with great participation success.
On Saturday, April 11, on the occasion of the Serie B championship match between FC Südtirol and Modena (kick-off at 3:00 PM), fans will be invited to choose two wheels to reach the facility on Viale Trieste and support the South Tyrolean team: they will find a supervised bicycle parking area (Lido side, adjacent to the stadium walls), a coupon for a free soft drink at the stadium, and a voucher for a discounted ticket for the next home match. Additionally, a skills park will be set up to test cycling abilities.
But that's not all: the Bike Day will also offer a preview of Safe2Ride, the new Tour of the Alps project aimed at schools and cycling clubs, which aims to raise awareness among children and young people about conscious and safe bicycle use. With the help of technicians from the South Tyrolean Committee of the Italian Cycling Federation, young people will be able to cycle safely and acquire knowledge and skills to experience two-wheeled mobility with greater awareness.
The Bike Day is an initiative of FC Südtirol and the Tour of the Alps, promoted together with the Bolzano Committee of the Italian Cycling Federation and with the patronage of the Municipality of Bolzano.
"On behalf of the Municipality of Bolzano, we wish to thank FC Südtirol and the Tour of the Alps for organizing the Bike Day, which two years ago was a great success. Two-wheeled mobility represents a fundamental element for us in creating a sustainable city with a high quality of life," said Johanna Ramoser, Assessor for Mobility, Equal Opportunities, School and Leisure Time of the Municipality of Bolzano.
The Tour of the Alps will reciprocate the hospitality on the occasion of the fifth and final stage of the euro-regional race, which will arrive in Bolzano on Friday, April 24 after departing from Trento. In Piazza del Tribunale, a representative of FC Südtirol will be present, with activities for children and an invitation to all enthusiasts for the important Serie B clash the following day at the Druso Stadium, where the South Tyrolean club will face Mantova.
"Following the success of the Bike Day two years ago, it is a great honor for us to renew our collaboration with such a prestigious partner as the Tour of the Alps. As a professional sports club, FC Südtirol has always been committed to promoting physical activity as a form of well-being. Furthermore, this initiative represents a concrete contribution to sustainable mobility. For many spectators, reaching the Druso Stadium by bicycle is already an established habit; for many others, we hope it will become one. I also wish to express our gratitude to the Municipality of Bolzano for their valuable support and constant willingness to collaborate on new initiatives," said Hannes Fischnaller, operational director of FC Südtirol.
"Initiatives and collaborations of this kind confirm that the Tour of the Alps represents much more than a simple competition: it is a true vehicle of values, as provided for in our 2016 memorandum of understanding, of which we are celebrating the tenth anniversary. From the first edition of the new euro-regional course, we wanted to convey messages that go beyond disciplines and the sporting aspect itself, promoting a vision of mobility, sports practice, and lifestyle that we fully embrace, to which we have added the theme of road safety. We feel proud and fortunate to have traveling companions like FC Südtirol, who believe in our same vision of sport and its social impact," said Maurizio Evangelista, General Manager of the Tour of the Alps.
