A tree that grows together with children, a community that looks to the future and a sport that becomes part of the territory's life. On Saturday, March 21st in Cittiglio, a ceremony dedicated to newborns of 2025 took place, organized by the Municipality of Cittiglio on the occasion of the National Day of Kindness to Newborns, during which a Black Hornbeam was planted, donated by Cycling Sport Promotion as part of the environmental initiatives linked to the Alfredo Binda Trophy – Municipality of Cittiglio.
Present at the ceremony were the mayor of Cittiglio Rossella Magnani, councilor Daniela Vincenzi, municipal councilor Mario Paolicelli and Matteo Marchesi, councilor of the Province of Varese, together with the families of children born in 2025.
"We are very happy to welcome the children born in 2025 and their families on this festive day dedicated to kindness – declares Mayor Rossella Magnani –. Kindness is a value that we hope to pass down from generation to generation, with the hope that the children of our community can become bearers of love and kind gestures in the society that has welcomed them. A heartfelt thanks to Mario Minervino for donating a Black Hornbeam to celebrate those born in 2025: it is a plant that adapts very well in all contexts and it is the wish we make to these children, to be able to fully live this wonderful life they have ahead of them together with their families. A thought to the parents and grandparents who are a pillar in the growth of love in every family."
The planting of the tree represents a symbolic but concrete gesture that unites environment, territory and new generations, and is part of the path that the Alfredo Binda Trophy pursues throughout the year, combining the sporting event with initiatives dedicated to schools, road safety, environmental sustainability and community involvement.
Closing remarks from Mario Minervino, president of Cycling Sport Promotion: "It is a very significant day. We are very attentive to environmental issues and this is the third year we are carrying forward this initiative. This year there is the combination with the mayor's initiative, which unites the social aspect and makes the Binda Trophy increasingly connected to the territory."
Also through initiatives like this, the Alfredo Binda Trophy confirms its own identity: not just a major international cycling race, but a project that lives throughout the year and that grows together with the territory, families and new generations.
