Brescia-born Davide Donati puts his signature on the Oristano/Carbonia stage, the second fraction of the 2026 Giro di Sardegna raced over a distance of 136 kilometers and dotted with three categorized climbs. The 20-year-old from Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe Rookies, already winner last year of the third stage of the Ethias-Tour de Wallonie, today outsprinted Gianmarco Garofoli (Soudal Quick-Step) and Patrick Boje Frydkjær (Lidl - Trek Future Racing) who crossed the finish line in that order. Close behind the podium was Tuscan Filippo Magli while Nicola Conci closed out the top-5 of the day.

In the general classification, Ligurian Nicolò Garibbo (Team UKYO) maintains the lead with a 4" advantage over Garofoli in second place, while Zana drops to third position.

THE STAGE - The peloton departed from Oristano shortly after noon and for the first fifty kilometers pedaled without incident. However, the race came to life thanks to the attempt promoted by Diego Uriarte (Equipo Kern Pharma), Alexandre Balmer (Solution Tech NIPPO Rali) and Andrea Pietrobon (Team Polti VisitMalta) who gained a few seconds before cresting the Genna Sciria categorized climb.

The first climb was won by Louis Vervaeke (Soudal Quick-Step) ahead of Diego Uriarte (Equipo Kern Pharma) and Sebastian Putz (Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe Rookies); on the descent the peloton maintained a strong pace and once back on flat terrain attacks resumed.

Alexandre Balmer (Solution Tech NIPPO Rali), Federico Iacomoni (Team UKYO) and Andrea Pietrobon (Team Polti VisitMalta) attempted to surprise the peloton, imitated shortly after by Diego Uriarte (Equipo Kern Pharma), Gijs Schoonvelde (Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe Rookies) and Tommaso Dati (Team UKYO).
