Del Toro is today the main reference point of Mexican cycling, a growing movement that is beginning to produce new talents. Among these stands out José Said Cisneros, included this year in the Soudal Quick-Step Development project.
Cisneros is very young: he will turn 19 on April 19th. Despite his age, the Belgian team decided to include him in their development pathway, a significant step for the young climber from Aguascalientes. With his 45 kilograms distributed over 168 centimeters, he is considered Mexico's most promising young rider. Expectations are high, but the results achieved so far confirm his potential.
In 2024 and 2025 he raced with AR Monex, the same team that launched Del Toro, a Mexican-based team that competes under the flag of the Republic of San Marino. His cycling story is remarkable also for the speed at which he has progressed.
“I started cycling in 2020, when I was 13 years old», Cisneros recounts. The first time I got on a bike was when my father taught me how to ride. I remember that my very first race was a mountain bike event, but gradually I became interested in road cycling”.
Last year among the juniors he won the Pretola race (Pg), finished fifth at the “Buffoni” and at the World Championships in Rwanda he placed 17th, finishing as the best among Latin American riders: “But the icing on the cake was winning the national road championship title, in what was my last race of the year”. The young Mexican is a climber who also enjoys challenging finishes and is currently proving this by racing in the Tour of Rwanda where, yesterday, he finished fifth in the Rusizi stage.
