The path towards the 27th Alfredo Binda Trophy - Comune di Cittiglio (UCI Women's WorldTour) and the 13th Piccolo Trofeo Alfredo Binda - Valli del Verbano (UCI Nations' Cup Junior Women) continues with a new event dedicated to the social and cultural values of sports.
On Saturday, February 21st, at 8:30 PM, at Palazzo Verbania in Luino, a public meeting titled "Sports and Gender Equality" will be held, a moment of dialogue and testimony included in the official calendar of events accompanying the international women's race scheduled for Sunday, March 15th.
The initiative stems from the collaboration between Cycling Sport Promotion, Anemos Italia ODV, Luino Municipality, and Cittiglio Municipality to promote gender equality and spread a culture of respect and non-violence, with particular attention to younger generations.
The event fully fits into the vision of the Alfredo Binda Trophy as an active project throughout the year, capable of combining high-level sports with an educational and cultural path aimed at the territory and schools. Through meetings, training activities, and public dialogue moments, the event confirms its role as a platform of values, beyond being a major international sporting event.
The collaboration with Anemos Italia represents a further step in this direction. The association, already engaged in educational projects for students to counter gender stereotypes and promote healthy and respectful relationships, has initiated a awareness-raising path together with Cycling Sport Promotion that has also involved the school world within the initiatives related to the Binda Trophy.
The Luino meeting will feature testimonies and interventions dedicated to the theme "Free roads are made by women who cross them", offering a reflection on the role of sports as a tool for cultural growth, inclusion, and social change.
With this event, the Alfredo Binda Trophy confirms its identity: not only one of the most prestigious races in the women's world calendar, but a project that unites sports, education, and social responsibility, contributing to building a continuous dialogue between athletes, youth, and community.
The approach path will continue in the coming weeks until the event on the roads of Varese province on Sunday, March 15th, when the best women's cycling athletes will return as protagonists between Luino and Cittiglio.
