Serious fall for Luca Laguardia during a training session in the area between Pazzano and Tolve. The under-23 amateur rider from Potenza, racing with the Abruzzo-based Aran Cucine-Vejus team and former junior regional FCI Basilicata champion, was navigating a steep and treacherous descent when the moisture on the road surface caused him to fall. Luca was left semi-conscious on the ground, but fortunately some passing motorists immediately stopped to help him.
The helmet saved him: violently impacted during the crash, it split in two. Without it, the consequences would have been much more severe. Hospitalized in Potenza, he is under observation after suffering injuries to his collarbone, a vertebra, and several ribs. He has been recovering for a few days after the post-operative period.
The regional Lucanian cycling world of Federciclismo Basilicata and its delegate Vincenzo Sileo express their support and wish him a speedy recovery, strongly reaffirming that the helmet is indeed a "lifesaver".
