Wednesday, March 4, 2026 will see the 63rd edition of the Trofeo Laigueglia, a classic of Italian professional cycling that since the 1960s has brought some of the best two-wheel interpreters to Liguria.
A high-level participation is already anticipated, with the main World Tour and Professional teams ready to submit their candidacy to be at the start in the Bay of Sun, in one of the most anticipated events at the beginning of the season in Italy.
For the 2026 edition, the Municipality of Laigueglia has assigned the technical organization of the race to ExtraGiro Race. After the 2023 and 2024 editions, the group led by Marco Selleri returns to Laigueglia, which since 2017 has achieved important organizational results, from relaunching the Giro d'Italia Giovani to the 2020 World Championships in Imola, without forgetting the revival of historic professional races like the Giro della Romagna Pro and the Giro della Città Metropolitana di Reggio Calabria.
The Ligurian riviera is once again buzzing to see the great protagonists of professional cycling in action, ready to compete for victory and write their name in a prestigious roll of honor, which has seen champions like Merckx, Dancelli, Bitossi, Baronchelli, Maertens, De Vlaeminck, Saronni, Ballan and Pozzato triumph, the latter being the only one to win three times. In 2025, the victory went to Spanish talent Juan Ayuso.
"We are pleased to return to managing the organization of the Trofeo Laigueglia – comments Marco Selleri for ExtraGiro Race – We are already working intensively to propose a sporting spectacle capable of involving the community and the surrounding territory, also from a territorial promotion and marketing perspective. The route will include some technically valuable innovations for teams, riders and the public. In addition to strengthening the identity of the race, so that opportunities for active and sustainable tourism can grow, we will propose some novelties in terms of the route in this edition, which will embrace this magnificent territory even more comprehensively. Among these, the inclusion of the Cipressa, an iconic climb in cycling".
For ExtraGiro Race, the confirmation of organizing the Trofeo Laigueglia is part of a 2026 professional race calendar that already includes the Metropolitan City Cycling Tour of Reggio Calabria (April 10), the Magna Grecia Tour (April 12-16), the Lyon-Turin from July 1-3, the Young Riders Tour (Juniors category) from July 29 to August 1 and the Romagna Pro Tour on September 20. Among the novelties of 2026, also the start of organizing trail running events.
ExtraGiro's commitment in 2026 is not limited to competitive aspects but also includes organizing national and international cycling tourism events, as well as intense consulting, operational services and communication activities in the sectors of cycling, sustainable mobility, smart mobility technologies and applied services, supporting the transformation of territories and improving livability.
