After seven and a half years, Clement Davy will start the season wearing a different jersey from Groupama-FDJ. The experienced Breton rider, who joined the team in the second half of 2018 when it was still led by Marc Madiot, will soon be riding in the colors of the Nice Metropole Cote d'Azur, a French Continental team with which Davy has signed a last-minute agreement for 2026 after being left without a team following the non-renewal with the team that had the merit of launching him among the cycling elite.
"It is a real relief," stated the veteran from Fougeres to L'Équipe, who has never won among the pros during a career that until 2019 was divided between road and track competitions.
"I asked myself the right questions and carefully reflected on what I wanted to do because I experienced the worst moment of my career and it was not very pleasant. After my last race, I had no options in front of me, but I had some good conversations with Jérôme Pulidori that ultimately convinced me," Davy confided.
"My goal was to remain in the professional group where, since I turned pro, I have given a lot for the team and for the leaders. This year among the Continental teams, I will find a very high level, with many good riders, and also some race situations that could favor me: I have a lot of desire to raise my arms and obtain some good results," concluded the former Groupama rider, determined to take advantage of the opportunities that will come his way outside the World Tour to finally leave his mark on the road.
