Cycling Team Friuli returns to the track, and does so to honor a promise with one of the most representative athletes who wore the black and white colors, Matteo Donegà. In his black and white palmares, a silver medal at the European Championships and numerous international victories and podiums worldwide, including World Cup events, Nation Cup, national championships, and 2 Six Days of Pordenone.
With the transfer of the team's Under 23 category to the development squad of the World Tour Bahrain team in 2025 and the reduction of activities to only youth categories, the cyclist from Bondeno had continued his track activity with the Arvedi society of Cremona, but maintained strong ties with President Roberto Bressan and the Friuli Venezia Giulia region.
From this attachment to the jersey and the region that saw him grow and establish himself at the highest level for more than 7 years, this project was born. A couple of phone calls and CTF, through Roberto Bressan, activated the structure and contacts to close a decade-long career through two world-level events that will once again bring CTF and the tourism promotion brand "I am Friuli Venezia Giulia" to the highest-level stages in Berlin and Bremen.
Starting from January 9th to 12th at the Bremen Six Days paired with Sierra, continuing from January 31st at the Berlin Six Days paired with Scartezzini, in two events that, as usual, will provide spectacular and sold-out velodromes.
"In itself, the conclusion of the career of a track cyclist of Matteo Donegà's caliber is an event to be honored in the best way, given his successes and placements in international events in the world's best velodromes, the countless blue jerseys he has worn, and his maintaining top world rankings in various track specialties for long periods, often being the first Italian. But the fact that he wanted to close his career in a CTF jersey, once again promoting the name of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, fills us with pride, demonstrating that beyond on-field values, Matteo has ethical values and gratitude of a champion. Thank you for everything, Matteo, for these two final races: I am certain that all regional cycling will cheer for you again," concludes Roberto Bressan with pride. But we are convinced that Matteo Donegà in Bremen and Berlin will be able to count on the support of all Italian track cycling enthusiasts.
