Wout van Aert was successfully operated on this morning for the ankle fracture he suffered yesterday during the Zilvermeercross. Now the Flemish rider can begin his recovery period.
The announcement of the successful intervention came from his team, Visma-Lease a Bike, which spread the news through social media. Van Aert was forced to undergo surgery following yesterday's fall during the Zilvermeercross. After the crash, the ankle appeared swollen, and initially, it was thought to be a sprain, but in the evening, after further examinations, a small fracture was identified that required orthopedic intervention.
"The surgery was successful and Wout can now start his recovery". This was the statement that appeared in the post published by Visma-Lease a Bike on social media, announcing the successful ankle surgery, without however mentioning the recovery time.
Van Aert yesterday, at the end of the race, released only one statement through his team, saying he was disappointed and wanted to focus on upcoming objectives. The Flemish rider, after this injury, will not compete in any more Cyclocross races, and his attention is now directed towards the Spring Classics.
