The talented young Scottish cyclist Oscar Onley has signed with INEOS Grenadiers, after agreeing a transfer with his current team, Picnic PostNL.
The Scottish cyclist from Kelso has made his mark in the peloton since becoming a professional at just 19 years old, with a series of impressive results against top-level competitors. Oscar's exceptional fourth place at the 2025 Tour de France, at only 22 years old, made him the youngest to finish in the top ten, highlighting his ability to compete at the sport's highest level.
Oscar Onley stated: "I grew up watching Geraint, Dave and the team dominate the sport and put cycling on the map of the United Kingdom, so I'm truly proud to join the Grenadiers with a long-term contract, which will also mean racing for a British team when the Tour de France starts from Scotland in 2027. I want to thank Team Picnic PostNL for all their support. I'm really proud of what we've achieved together. I'll miss my teammates and I'll carry with me the memories I've lived with them, and I know I'll have to face tough competition with the next generation of talents that will develop in the years to come".
Geraint Thomas, Sports Director, added: "Oscar's performance in 2025 was truly incredible. I rode my first Tour at 21, so seeing what he achieved at this year's Tour at just 22 was really impressive. His way of racing and understanding a race is mature well beyond his age: he's a true rider. I can't wait to work with him: at his age, there's still a lot of room for improvement. Our entire team has worked hard during the winter to refocus and redefine our ambitions, modifying our structures and processes to help us achieve our goals. Oscar naturally fits into this project, and I'm confident that the new system we're building will help him reach his full potential".
