The Ponte Cyclocross in Faè di Oderzo did not disappoint. The 23rd edition, organized by Sportivi del Ponte, was a tremendous success. As always, Borgo Barattin transformed into the capital of Italian cyclocross. The only thing missing was the mud that often characterized this historic event with an enviable roll of honor, featuring names like Daniele Pontoni, Zdenek Stybar, Bart Aernouts, Enrico Franzoi, Francis Mourey, Vincent Baestaens, Marcel Meisen, Alessandro and Filippo Fontana, and Gioele Bertolini. The spectacle was not lacking. Nor was the audience, which arrived in large numbers thanks to a mild sun that illuminated over 500 participants from across the Italian territory and various European countries. All races were broadcast live on the organizer's social channels, with Open races on Raiplay. Faè di Oderzo was the final stage of the Selle Smp Master Cross after events in Casalecchio di Reno, San Francesco al Campo, and San Pietro in Gu.
The main race, reserved for the Open male category, had an absolute master. Filippo Fontana (C.S. Carabinieri) repeated his 2023 victory. The race was decided during the second lap. A leading pair had formed, consisting of Federico Ceolin (Fas Airport Guerciotti) and Fontana himself. The Venetian was betrayed by a tight right curve, where he slipped and literally tangled with a marker post delimiting the course. Filippo Fontana engaged an unstoppable gear, gaining lap after lap on all competitors. The son of a champion, whose father Alessandro had won on this course in 2005, could thus enjoy the cheers of the Treviso crowd with raised arms. Second place went to the ever-persistent Gioele Bertolini (Ale Colnago). Third place, behind the Italian champion, was Federico Ceolin (Fas Airport Guerciotti), fourth Samuele Scappini (Team Cingolani Specialized), who preceded Tommaso Cafueri (DP66 Pinarello). The Valtellina rider secured the final classification of the Selle Smp Master Cross.
The international women's race offered a duel between Elisa Ferri (Fas Airport Guerciotti) and Italian Elite Champion Carlotta Borello (Team Cingolani Specialized). The young Tuscan talent, in her first year among Under 23, demonstrated a decidedly superior pace, but some slides and a chain slip prevented her from establishing a reassuring margin of advantage. Elisa Ferri, who became Junior Italian Champion less than a year ago, could still celebrate victory with an 11-second advantage over Piedmontese Carlotta Borello. Third place went to Rebecca Gariboldi (Ale Colnago). Fourth place for Beatrice Fontana, who won the Master Cross classification.
The junior races were nothing short of exciting. In the men's race, a duel was expected between European Champion Filippo Grigolini (Team Cingolani Specialized) and European Vice-Champion and Italian Champion Patrik Pezzo Rosola (Fas Airport Guerciotti). Due to a slide, Grigolini was forced to retire. Patrik thus confirmed his primacy in the Faè Italian Championship, crossing the finish line with raised arms ahead of his young teammate Francesco Dell'Olio and Piedmontese Giovanni Bosio (Ktm Spada). Fourth and fifth positions went to Ivan Colombo (Albredo Binda) and Filippo Cingolani (Team Cingolani Specialized). 6th was Pietro Deon, who confirmed his leadership in the Selle Smp Master Cross.
The women's race was much more uncertain and was decided with an exciting head-to-head finale between Trentino Nicole Azzetti (Ale Colnago), bronze medalist at the European Championship, and Friulian Azzurra Rizzi (Jam's Bike). Nicole Azzetti prevailed over Azzurra Rizzi, who could still celebrate victory in the Master Cross classification. Third place went to Venetian Nicole Righetto (Fas Airport Guerciotti).
The youth races were, as always, highly participated and thrilling. Among the juniors, daily and final classification victories went to Friulian Alessio Borile (DP66 Pinarello) and European Champion Luca Ferro from Varese (Bustese Olonia). In the women's race, Valdostan Matilde Anselmi (Cx Devo Accademy) won by a wide margin but was later disqualified for an irregular bike change. The victory went to Valtellina's Beatrice Maifrè (Melavì Tirano), who could also seal the final classification of the circuit.
The competition for beginners was decided with an exciting head-to-head that rewarded Santiago Bembo (Gs Mosole) over Italian Champion Nicolò Ferrari (Melavì Tirano). The final Master Cross classification was won by Thomas Vitaloni (A Favore del Ciclismo). Among the girls, the daily victory went to Piedmontese Giorgia Vottero (Cx Devo Accademy) and circuit classification to Aurora Cerame (DP66 Pinarello).
Among the Masters, who opened the event early in the morning, victories went to Marcello Merlino (Bikespace) in Fascia 1, Carmine Del Riccio (Sunshine Racers Nals) in Fascia 2, Sergio Giuseppin (Delizia Bike) in Fascia 3, and Silvia Folloni (Valle Olona Riders) among the Women, who confirmed leadership in the Selle Smp Master Cross. In Fascia 4, the daily victory went to Giuliano Brancati (Caprivesi) and circuit classification to Fabrizio Stefani (Scavezzon).
