The usual end-of-season social dinner of Team F.lli Giorgi was held last Friday at the Pio Nono restaurant in Erbusco, in the Brescia area, where president Carlo Giorgi gathered the entire team, friends, sponsors, and authorities to celebrate together the end of another extraordinarily successful and satisfying year. But this year's event had a particularly special flavor, marking the end of a journey, the conclusion of a long success story.
As already announced months ago, 2025 was the last season in which Team Giorgi fielded a Junior team, after 29 years of uninterrupted activity during which the team of president Carlo Giorgi rewrote the history of Italian and international youth cycling.
In twenty-nine years, Team F.lli Giorgi registered and enabled 436 young riders aged between 15 and 18 to practice cycling. In total, between road and track, 456 victories were collected in 29 years of history. In total, between provincial, regional, national, European, and world competitions, 95 titles were conquered.
3 world track titles with Sergey Rostovtsev in the Scratch in 2014 in South Korea and the two Team Pursuit titles with Luca Giaimi in 2022 in Israel and in 2023 in Colombia.
8 European titles: to Sergey Rostovtsev's Team Sprint title in 2015, were added Mathias Vacek's time trial title in 2020, Luca Giaimi's double title in 2022 (Team Pursuit and Individual), Giaimi's triple title in 2023 (Team Pursuit, Individual, and Junior Road Mixed Team Relay) and Mattia Stenico's MTB Mixed Team Relay title in 2024.
27 national titles won by the team in road, track, time trial, cyclocross in Italy, Czech Republic, Morocco, Poland, Croatia.
In the 2025 season, the athletes directed by Leone Malaga consistently presented successes throughout the weeks and months, and by the end of the year there were 25, 22 on the road and three on the track. Giacomo Rosato was the most successful, with 6 personal victories, followed by Pietro Solavaggione, Thomas Bernardi, and Igor Mitoraj with 4 victories each.
President Carlo Giorgi explained during the evening, with great serenity: "This is an evening that marks the end of Team Giorgi, and the story ends without second thoughts and without regrets. I must only thank all the sponsors who accompanied me on this journey of 30 years of history without ever asking for an account of what we did. Thanks to all the young riders and collaborators, it was wonderful to share these years with all of them. There were many exciting days, but if I have to choose one particularly exhilarating day, it was the penultimate victory we achieved this year at Ghisallo, which will forever remain in my heart."
During the evening, a touching remembrance was dedicated to the former athlete who passed away prematurely this year, Samuele Privitera, with his parents present and speaking in a moment of deep emotion for everyone, and an inevitable tribute was also paid to sports director Luca Gelfi.
Numerous guests and authorities were present: starting with team sponsor and vice president Massimo Trapletti, Prandelli from Inoxpran, Lombardy Regional FCI Committee President Stefano Pedrinazzi, representing the Bergamo FCI Committee was Mara Mologni, former Bergamo FCI President Michele Gamba, agents Francesco Quaranta and Jacopo Rognoni, Team Guerrini vice president Morris Guerrini, to whom sports director Leone Malaga and some Team Giorgi athletes entering their second year in the Junior category will move next year.
Among former athletes and professionals still active were Alessio Martinelli and Leonardo Vesco, along with several other former professionals who wanted to pay homage to Carlo Giorgi and his team, starting with two-time Giro d'Italia winner Ivan Gotti, Paolo Lanfranchi who was also team manager in the past, Ermanno Brignoli, Enrico Barbin, and Michael Bresciani, the latter two former athletes of the Bergamo team.
An era and a wonderful story of commitment and passion ends, which in 29 years allowed many young people to practice sports. But Carlo Giorgi's commitment to cycling is certainly not over. During the evening, the candidacy of Team F.lli Giorgi was announced - yes, because the company will continue to exist even without athletes - to organize the 2026 Italian Junior Road Championships.
