New arrival at Team Jayco AlUla: young British climber Finlay Pickering has signed a two-year contract with the Australian team. At 22 years old, the British cyclist has already spent two seasons racing and developing at the WorldTour level and has proven to be a very promising rider.
Pickering is a former junior time trial national champion and won the general classification at the Tour Alsace 2022. This season saw Pickering winning the climbers' classification at the Tour of the Alps and, after a surprising last-minute call-up, made an excellent debut in a Grand Tour at the Vuelta a España.
The GreenEDGE Cycling management believes that Pickering is a talented climber and that, with the support of the Team Jayco AlUla staff, he can further develop as a rider.
Finlay Pickering explains: "I can't wait to race with new teammates and work with a highly respected staff. I'm also very excited to return to racing with a Giant! I've learned a lot in the WorldTour over the past two years and now, moving to Team Jayco AlUla, I hope to become an even better cyclist".
Gene Bates, Sporting Director of Team Jayco AlUla, adds: "We have closely followed Finlay's progress as a cyclist and it's fantastic to have him on the team next season. In his two years at the WorldTour level, he has already proven to be a very promising climber. His performance at the Tour of the Alps highlighted his mountain strengths, and we believe he can integrate well into our group of climbers, where he can provide valuable support to the team leaders while growing as a cyclist".
