The Triveneto Cyclocross Trophy made a stop in Verona, specifically in Roverchiara for the 3rd Fausto Chieppe Memorial, a race honoring a Verona rider who competed in amateur categories, organized by Asd Viva la Bici, with Francesco Rossignoli, a former professional from 1963 and ex-sports director, and Germano Patuzzo, who raced in youth categories, at the helm.
Yesterday, regional and provincial (Verona) titles were awarded across different categories. The event saw an excellent turnout with over 350 registered riders. The 2,700-meter course, designed by 2003 World Champion Enrico Franzoi, was highly varied and appreciated by all participants. It alternated technical sections with climbs, descents, and counter-slopes along the Adige River bank, featuring obstacles and fast sections, particularly the final asphalt stretch. The course was made even more selective by the mud created by the heavy rainfall during the day.
The Open category race was characterized by a head-to-head battle between DP66 Pinarello teammates Tommaso Cafueri and Ettore Fabbro. Enrico Franzoi started very quickly but ultimately settled for an excellent fifth place. In the final stages, Tommaso Cafueri broke away solo and could raise his arms in victory at the Roverchiara finish line. Third place went to the U23 rider Lorenzo De Longhi from Treviso (Sanfiorese). "I'm very happy because I hadn't won since early 2024," Tommaso Cafueri commented, "It was a beautiful, technical, tough yet fast course".
In the women's race, there was a triumph for young junior Azzurra Rizzi (Jam's Bike). The Friulian athlete gradually distanced all her Elite and U23 category competitors and could celebrate with raised arms. In second place was South Tyrolean Anna Oberparleiter (Team Cingolani). The third position went to Venetian Gaia Santin (San Vendemiano).
Among juniors, Pietro Deon (DP66 Pinarello) rode a solitary race. The Treviso athlete distanced all competitors by more than a minute. The podium was completed by Flavio Dispensa (Sanfiorese) and Lorenzo Scian (B-Team Cyclocross Project).
There was great participation and enthusiasm, as always, in the youth categories. Treviso's Tommaso Nosella (Sanfiorese) won the second-year cadets race, ahead of his teammate Matteo Zago. Third place went to Cristiano Lessi (Bosco Orsago).
In the first-year cadets category, victory went to Verona's Alberto Finetto (Hellas Monteforte), who preceded Federico Vielmo (Gc Montegrappa) and Simone Dal Mas (San Vendemiano). Among female cadets, a clear victory for Venetian Irene Righetto (Velociraptors) over Alice Viezzi (B-Team Cyclocross).
Sanfiorese achieved a double in the novices competition with Alessio Tocchet and Francesco Barazzuol finishing first and second respectively. In third place was Simone Fortuna (Gc Montegrappa). The women's race was dominated by Trentino's Margherita Donanzan (Veloce Club Borgo), who distanced Marika Russo (B-Team Cyclocross) by almost two minutes. Third place went to Carlotta Casarotti (Off. Alberti Val d'Illasi).
Excellent participation in the Masters categories. Victories for Erik Saeter (Cicli Rossi) in Group 1, Carmine Del Riccio (Sunshine Racers) in Group 2, Sergio Giuseppin (Delizia Bike) in Group 3, Giovanni Parro (Zero5) in Group 4, and Jessica Pellizzaro (Team Cingolani) in the MasterWoman category.
