The appointment with The Night of the Oscars is approaching, which marks the ideal conclusion of the 2025 season and paves the way for a new adventure. On stage, as always, will be the best athletes of the year in each category: we'll present one per day, in a path leading up to the party on Friday, November 28th in Milan. Spotlight today on Juniors: the king of the Oscars is Andrea Gabriele Alessiani.
Winning the tuttoBICI Oscar as best junior was his main seasonal goal and Andrea Gabriele Alessiani hit the mark. Sixteen years old, from Grottammare in the province of Ascoli Piceno, he was the protagonist of a real head-to-head with his teammates from Petrucci Zero24 Cycling Team who then formed the entire podium of the System Cars prize reserved for the junior category.
"I wasn't sure I had won, in fact I thought I hadn't made it. In the last two opportunities to score points I fell and then broke the gear shift, so I had already lost hope, but then I had a beautiful surprise," Andrea tells us when we call him: he won by just 6 points over Edoardo Fiorini and will finally be able to celebrate with us on November 28th.
Andrea and sports have always had a special bond, as a child he tried everything, from football to swimming, passing through Muay Thai until arriving at inline skating where he became a small superstar conquering Italian titles. At a certain point, however, cycling entered powerfully into his life, he wanted to try something new and when he was twelve years old he chose to follow that path.
"My father always cycled, but actually I started with skating and I was quite good. Near where I live there's a cycling track and there I always saw kids using skates like me, but especially bikes. I was literally fascinated and so I wanted to try, I started in the G2 category and never wanted to stop. Even though everyone advised me to continue with speed skating, I decided to follow my heart and chose the bike. When I pedal, I think of nothing, I can finally be myself, I'm free and I would like to do this for my entire life."
As a child, his idol was Peter Sagan, he was fascinated by the Slovak's way of racing, by the ease with which he approached every competition, then growing up he started following Pogacar and the entire UAE Team Emirates XRG finding his reference point in Isaac del Toro. Andrea dreams of racing with him, but in reality a first contact between the two has occurred, he met him almost by chance on the eve of the Industry and Crafts Grand Prix and it was special.
"In September, when there were one-day races in Tuscany, I was on a retreat with the Marche selection in Montecatini and one day passing by a hotel I noticed the UAE bus was there, it was my chance to meet Isaac. And so I waited and waited, more than an hour passed and then finally Del Toro and Majka came down for dinner, it was a special encounter because I had the opportunity to talk to them and take a nice photo. It was really worth it, also because it was the only opportunity I had to meet Majka, who was at one of the last races of his career," Andrea tells us with still a hint of emotion. At the tuttoBICI gala, the Mexican won't be there, but Jonathan Milan and Giulio Ciccone will, two of his idols he can't wait to meet.
Andrea Gabriele Alessiani's 2025 was studded with 9 victories, a season in which he tested himself, managing to catch the beautiful success at the Liberazione Trophy for juniors and especially the final classification of the Giro delle Tre Provincie, of which he also won a stage.
"In this season I really had fun in all the races I did, but above all I tried to improve myself. I have only one regret, that of the Italian championships. In the time trial I had a bad day, while in the line race I was in excellent condition, but I couldn't do well. I never got discouraged, but tried to give my best and at the end of the season I gave myself a nice satisfaction by winning my first stage race. The most beautiful memory? Certainly the GP Liberazione, I found myself with all the strongest Italians in my category, it was a nice way to get to know each other, but above all to test myself, when I find someone very strong I'm always stimulated to give my best," continues Andrea, who already has 2026 in his sights.
Next year he will move to the junior category with Gb Junior Team Pool Cantù and can't wait to start with many new teammates and, above all, great challenges.
