The appointment with The Oscar Night is approaching, which marks the ideal conclusion of the 2025 season and paves the way for a new adventure. On stage will be, as always, the best athletes of the year in each category: we will present one per day, in a path leading up to the party on Friday, November 28th in Milan. Opening the series of interviews is Alessandro Bellettini.
Alessandro Bellettini will be the youngest among the tuttoBICI Oscar winners and can't wait to be in Milan to celebrate together. The winner of the Mediolanum Grand Prix for first-year juniors in 2025, who rode for the Pedale Azzurro Rinascita, carved out a true leading role, excelling among his peers and raising his arms to the sky 23 times.
Alessandro did not expect to be so strong, he tells us without too many roundabout ways, accompanying his story with great emotion. "In this season I really had fun, I won and it was all unexpected. During the winter I did not do a structured preparation, so at the beginning of 2025 I was not at my best; for me it was a new category, I was afraid of not adapting and not being able to finish the races, but instead I immediately felt comfortable. It was really nice because I felt free, I had no problems, but I was simply doing what I liked. I think I suffered a bit in the second part of the season, and in front of my victories many people started to have high expectations of me, and I then underestimated certain aspects of preparation. Perhaps I could have collected even more, but I believe that all this served me as a great lesson to avoid these mistakes in the future," continues the 2012 class who will race for Cotignolese next year. From 2025 he takes home many lessons, the importance of training and rest, but above all ambition and the desire to never give up.
Among the many victories of 2025, the one with the most special flavor is certainly the Italian championship, a truly historic milestone for Emilia Romagna, which had not seen a national title in the first-year junior category for over fifty years. Alessandro has not yet fully realized what happened; before the start, he was not feeling well, had not slept well, and was suffering from a cold, yet kilometer after kilometer he put himself on the line until reaching a truly unexpected victory.
"From the first kilometers it was a very difficult race, I started far back and had trouble moving up. With my team Emilia Romagna teammate Thomas Vitaloni, we tried to play as a team, the plan was to attack uphill, but unfortunately I was not feeling well and so I even dropped back. I descended at full speed, got back into the group and immediately put myself at Vitaloni's service to lead him out, I used all the energy I had when at a certain point on the last curve I realized there was no one on my wheel. My teammate was in the belly of the group, so I went straight ahead. Being Italian champion is crazy."
His love for cycling is largely due to his grandfather, who was always passionate about it, transmitted the passion to his father, and then somewhat by chance it also reached him. It was 2020, the year of covid, we were blocked by lockdown in every region of Italy, Alessandro was no longer doing sports and was often at home, and so a new challenge was born: try cycling.
"I started from the G4 category and honestly it was a test, I was not really passionate, I followed my father and grandfather. Soon, however, I understood that it was my sport, I liked it immediately, I met many new friends and now I never separate from my bike. There are many beautiful things about cycling, but I believe that the most special of all is the concept of effort, it is a hard sport, after every training I am really tired, yet I am happy," continues Alessandro, who dreams of one day racing among professionals.
His favorite races are Milano-Sanremo and Paris-Roubaix, and he would like to become an athlete like Tadej Pogacar, very strong uphill but also capable of making a difference in the classics. For Alessandro, however, the Slovenian is not his true point of reference, his favorite rider is Giulio Pellizzari.
"What happened in the Santa Cristina stage of last year's Giro struck me because it made me understand how dreams are possible. Giulio has become my idol. Unfortunately, I have never met him, but one day I would like not only to meet him but to race alongside him in the Red Bull Bora Hansgrohe, I believe it is a very strong team with an excellent project especially dedicated to young people. The signing of Lorenzo Finn in 2025 and now Alessio Magagnotti confirms that they continue to bet on Italy and that therefore there is a possibility for us."
Alessandro has clear ideas, when he is in the saddle of his bike he travels and dreams of being a professional one day. Meanwhile, this year he was the best in his category and as they say, "who starts well..."
