On a not-by-chance date, Fabio Felline announced his serene decision to close the chapter of a career that began in 2010 and reopened this season, under the banner of Mbh Bank Ballan CSB Colpack that launched him as a professional. "November 1st was usually my Fellinata, the farewell party to the next season. But 2026 will not have a season as a rider. As many know, I had already said goodbye to racing last year. Then nostalgia, the kind that only those who have experienced certain emotions can understand, pushed me to return".
The 35-year-old from Turin accompanies the social message with a series of images, starting from his 2020 Memorial Pantani victory. "At the time, I didn't know, but I was writing the final pages of a beautiful chapter of my life" - Felline recalls, who from 2010 (Footon Servetto) and for a decade conquered 14 races: in his first year as a professional, he won two stage victories (plus the general classification) at the Circuit de Lorraine Professionel, while 2012 saw his triumph in the Memorial Pantani and Giro dell'Appennino. In 2015, he won GP de Fourmies and two stages at Basque Country and Criterium International, and in 2016, then riding for Trek Segafredo, he wore the points classification leader's jersey at the Vuelta. That night on the Madrid stage alongside Quintana, Froome, and Valverde evokes strong emotion. In 2017, Felline added Trofeo Laigueglia and a Romandie Tour stage, with another victory in Cesenatico. The 35-year-old Turin native explains his decision to hang up his bike: "This year the team laid the groundwork for further growth, and being able to contribute to this project - alongside young guys, full of enthusiasm and dreams - was a privilege. I tried to pass on something of my cycling, and in doing so, they also taught me something precious. But along the way, something in this project changed. And so, with serenity and gratitude towards cycling, today I put the word 'end' to the chapter of Fabio the rider".
And in his message he adds: "I lived cycling in its fullness, in every nuance: from the boy waiting for the first team's clothes in a parking lot, to the professional who found himself racing side by side with champions he was watching on TV just before... and even beating them, what satisfaction!" Exclamation points justified, a sign of a passion for cycling that will now take new forms.
"In these years I won 14 times, I stood on the podium about thirty times, and made the top 10 around a hundred times. But the real numbers I carry with me are different: the people I met, the challenges shared, the friendships born on the road. And the awareness that this sport is, yes, a school of life. Cycling has given me so much. And even though from today I will no longer be a rider, I know that the world of cycling will always be part of me - in other forms, with new projects, but with the same passion as always. The story continues, differently".
