Giacomo Serangeli (Team Vangi - Il Pirata) wins the first Italian esport championship in the junior category at the Francesco Cesarini Dream Head Prize, with a final that saw him emerge strongly in the second part of the race.
Today in Spoleto, an important page in cycling history was written, in memory of Francesco Cesarini, the champion from San Giacomo di Spoleto who was a protagonist in cycling in the 80s with a brilliant sporting career in the junior category, winning 18 races in his first year and 24 victories in his second season. As an amateur, he won the 1982 Giro d'Italia and later became a professional with Del Tongo - Colnago, Ariostea and MG. He also wore the blue jersey of the national team under coach Alfredo Martini in 3 world championships. He passed away in 2020.
The roller race was structured with three qualifying heats and then a final that saw Serangeli's success. The event was desired and organized by Francesco Cesarini's family, his daughter Francesca and wife Donatella, with Sport Event. Many industry professionals followed the event with interest: among them, DMT testimonial Alessandro Petacchi, along with Mauro Scovenna, Riccardo Minali and Diego Cecchi, while Tony Rossetto was present for Elite.
