Years pass, routes change, but the air of Paris-Tours continues to inspire Matteo Trentin, who has won the Loire classic for the third time in his career (2015 and 2017 were the first two).
The Trentino rider from Tudor Pro Cycling was an active protagonist in all stages of the race, collaborated in the chase and believed in his possibilities. He then brilliantly took advantage of the (incomprehensible...) choice of the attacking pair formed by Gruel and Lapeira, who literally stopped in the last kilometer, allowing Trentin, Albert Philipsen, Bissegger, and Laporte to catch up.
The cards were reshuffled, a six-rider sprint ensued, and Matteo Trentin claimed a clear victory, marking his 32nd career success.
"It was truly a very tough race, with crosswinds, attacks, wind, gravel sections, and climbs. I knew that in these conditions I could play my cards, and so it was in a very fast race without a single moment of relaxation. Winning here again after ten years from the first time is incredible, and I am really, really happy!" Trentin commented before mounting the awards podium.
