Everything is set in Lissone and surroundings, and in a few hours the highly anticipated Agostoni Cup - Brianza Tour 2025 will take place. An event that renews itself every year and that every October gathers cycling enthusiasts and curious spectators, as well as great champions, because if the past is glorious - just look at the honor roll to realize it - the present is equally so.

Favored in any race they participate in, UAE Team Emirates-XRG will also be tomorrow, Sunday, October 5th, when they will start seeking a hat-trick of victories after Marc Hirschi and Davide Formolo's wins in recent years. This year the star is Mexican and his name is Isaac Del Toro, the most beautiful revelation of the season, with 14 victories to his credit (the latest yesterday at the Giro dell'Emilia), a 2nd place overall at the Giro d'Italia and 11 days in the Pink Jersey. Last week, at the World Championships in Kigali, he was the last to surrender to the unstoppable Pogačar.
"The World Championships experience was one I will never forget - said Del Toro -. I learned a lot and I'm sure it will be useful to me in the future. Pogačar once again demonstrated how strong he is and fully deserved the victory. Now I'm already focused on the Italian races and the Agostoni Cup is another important piece of this season, which has been truly special for me. I can't wait to be at the start."
The Mexican will not be the only UAE arrow, as there will also be Jay Vine, winner of two stages and best climber at the recent Vuelta a España, Adam Yates, who has a career of 30 victories, including 18 in the WorldTour, and a Tour de France podium, and the Varese native Alessandro Covi, the Puma from Taino.
Beware of the French, because there are several who will start with important ambitions, from Dorian Godon to his teammates Bastien Tronchon and Paul Lapeira (Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale), third last year, through experienced riders like David Gaudu, stage winner and Red Jersey holder for a day at the Vuelta, Guillaume Martin and Valentin Madouas (Groupama-FDJ).
And the Italians? They are not lacking, and there will also be the man, or rather the boy, of the moment, Lorenzo Mark Finn (Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe Rookies), fresh U23 World Champion in Kigali, Rwanda. The level among professionals is decidedly higher, but the 18-year-old Genoese is so strong that he can dream of being a protagonist even on the Brianza hills. There will also be Valtellina's Davide Piganzoli (Polti VisitMalta), Tuscan and former Italian champion Simone Velasco (XDS Astana), another former Italian champion and Agostoni winner in 2023 Davide Formolo (Movistar), Treviso's Andrea Vendrame (Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale), Sicilian Filippo Fiorelli (VF Group-Bardiani CSF-Faizan), who will transfer to Visma | Lease a Bike next year), Bergamo's Mattia Cattaneo (Soudal-QuickStep), Como's Alessandro Fancellu (Team Ukyo) and the fans' idol, the 'Bandito' Luca Vergallito (Alpecin-Deceuninck), from Milan.
"The Agostoni Cup is not only an important race in preparation for the Lombardy, but it's also the event that opens a prestigious three-day period in the region I come from - said Piganzoli -. I'm arriving with a lot of desire to do well after recovering from my fall in Luxembourg two weeks ago and participating in the Giro dell'Emilia, with the additional motivation from some friends and my entire family who will be cheering for me on the roads of Brianza."
Not to be underestimated are riders like Norwegian Tobias Halland Johannessen (Uno-X Mobility), 6th at this year's Tour de France, and then Basque Alex Aranburu (Cofidis), fourth in Lissone in 2024, Venezuelan Orluis Aular (Movistar), multiple Giro placer, Belgian Mauri Vansevenant (Soudal-QuickStep) and Dutch Sjoerd Bax (Q36.5), Agostoni winner in 2022.
THE ROUTE
The pulsating heart of the race will be, as tradition dictates, the City of Lissone. In total, 166.7 kilometers will be covered, with departure from Via Bottego, km 0 in Via Catalani and arrival in Via Matteotti, always in Lissone. After an initial flat section of about 20 km, riders will enter the famous Lissolo circuit, which fans know by heart but never gets boring due to its charm and history. The loop is 28 km long, will be repeated 4 times and features three climbs: Sirtori (1500 mt at 4.9%), Colle Brianza (3.8 km at 6%) and Lissolo (5.4 km at 4.3%). There are no impossible gradients, but a total of 12 climbs will be tackled and selection will happen naturally. After exiting the circuit, 35 flat kilometers will lead back to Lissone, where anything can happen, with attacks and reshuffles.
TV SCHEDULE
The Agostoni Cup - Brianza Tour 2025 will open the Lombardy Region Triptych - which will continue with Coppa Bernocchi and Tre Valli Varesine - and is included in the Regions Cup of the Cycling League, created to enhance territories, races, and teams.

It will also be live on the Cycling League YouTube channel with the same schedule. Internationally, it will be available on-demand on Discovery+ channels.
