From Avegno, Genoa, born on December 19, 2006, Lorenzo Mark Finn played football as a defender for San Bernardino team before becoming a professional cyclist. Graduated from the "Leonardo Da Vinci" Scientific High School in Genoa, Lorenzo is an only child living with his father Peter (of English origins) and mother Chiara, who work in corporate offices. His role model is British cyclist Geraint Thomas. He trained with Nuovaciclistica Arma-Team Ballerini directed by Gianluca Oddone and raced for the CPS Professional Team under Clemente Cavaliere during his junior years.
A complete rider who particularly enjoys climbing: Bocchetta, Madonna della Guardia, and Busalla are his favorite routes, located near Avegno above Recco, in the province of Genoa, where the young Ligurian has his home.
This year he made his debut among under-23 riders with Red Bull Bora Hansgrohe Rookies, a Continental team that is the development squad for the World Tour team where Primoz Roglic among others competes, and with which he will participate in some professional races in October. But first, he will compete in the European Championship in France on October 4th.
As John Wakefield, Development Director of Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe, highlighted: "Lorenzo's victory is a historic moment. With this success, Finn becomes the second rider ever to win consecutive World Championships in Junior and U23 categories (the first was Mohoric, ed.) and is simultaneously the youngest ever U23 World Champion (18 years, 9 months, and 7 days), which underscores his talent and ability to perform best when it matters most. Lorenzo's performance in Rwanda reflected not only power and precision but also the composure and maturity that have characterized his development within our development structure. This milestone is a source of pride for Lorenzo and not just for Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe, but also for the Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe Rookies Project".
