Lello Ferrara has posted a comment responding to criticisms from some readers who wanted to clarify his words in the fun video made in Komenda with Tadej Pogacar. We thought it was right to give Lello's words the prominence of a dedicated space, so here they are.
Hi everyone, I'm Lello Ferrara. I've been reading tuttoBICI since I was a kid, when it was only in print. Over the years, blogs arrived, then the website, which is now one of the most read in the world. And throughout all this time, I've been here too: I thank the editor and the entire editorial staff who have dedicated space and time to me, both in print and online.
Now, with comments under articles, you read many nice and interesting things... but also many useless controversies and gratuitous insults. Guys, just relax a bit! We're not talking about politics or wars, we're talking about cycling, about passion.
Let me tell you a scene: evening in Komenda. We were dead tired after a long journey. Tadej, fresh from the Tour and intense weeks, exhausted. Yet: autographs, photos, a chat with everyone, and even a fun video with me. I said there "the greatest". Maybe for some, it wasn't the right phrase... but between emotion, tiredness, and seeing a champion behave like this... guys, it came from my heart.
And it's not that I don't recognize history: those who follow me know that in my live streams I've always said that the greatest of all time is Eddy Merckx. And indeed, if you want, on my Instagram page LelloFerrara3.0 there's the live with Merckx: we talk, laugh, joke... the greatest in history making jokes with me! And I repeat: to beat Eddy, you have to do like him, win 500 races and then win one more to surpass his records.
For me, the point is simple: enjoy the moment. Even about choices of where and how to race... these are decisions of champions and teams. Our job is to admire the show, not use it as an outlet for frustrations. My way of speaking is light, almost "cinematic". If from tomorrow we all have to be professors, then few will write here... because those who have put a number on their back and raced at a high level are truly rare. I'm not accusing anyone, I'm not mad at anyone. But I see too many frustrated people, and cycling doesn't deserve this heaviness. So my invitation is: stay calm, enjoy the champions, enjoy cycling. Passion should be shared, not wasted arguing on a blog. Those who love cycling know that the true victory is being able to rejoice together, always.
Thank you for your attention. A simple cycling enthusiast without trophies in the showcase and without degrees 💚🤍❤️
