This Sunday morning, August 10th, Filippo Baroncini is returning to Italy. As revealed by Alessandro Brambilla in Tuttosport today. The UAE Emirates rider fell 20 kilometers from the end of Wednesday's stage of the Tour of Poland. Filippo remains in an induced coma (a necessary measure especially to maintain maximum immobility of the fractured facial bones) and spent the night in the intensive care unit of Walbrzych hospital. He is intubated.
In Alessandro Brambilla's report, there are statements from Mauro Gianetti, CEO and Team Principal of UAE Emirates: "Filippo's life is not in danger. His condition is stable", said the Ticino manager, fully satisfied with the professionalism with which the Walbrzych doctors have treated the athlete.
To expedite the rider's return to Italy, Gianetti relied on an international agency. Filippo will remain in an induced coma, under intensive care, even during the flight from Poland to one of Milan's airports. After landing, Baroncini will be transported to Milan Niguarda Hospital. "The Niguarda doctors – reports Tuttosport – will determine the times and methods of surgical intervention on the facial bones, particularly the left cheekbone. Without forgetting that Filippo fractured his left collarbone in Wednesday's fall, which was already treated in Walbrzych, and a cervical vertebra." Filippo was born on August 26, 2000, and has been with UAE Emirates XRG since 2024.
