Alex Kirsch is preparing to change teams and will join Cofidis: the Luxembourg rider will wear the colors of the northern team for the next three seasons (from 2026 to 2028). Alex has spent seven seasons with Lidl-Trek, where he established himself as a key teammate of Mads Pedersen and Jasper Stuyven. He is well-versed in Classics (15 participations) and will bring his experience to support Cofidis' sprinters, like Milan Fretin. Alex has also participated in six Grand Tours, including the Tour de France (in 2023 and 2024).
By joining the Cofidis team, Alex also wants to share his racing vision, know-how, and experience. Particularly comfortable in sprints, he aspires to help Milan Fretin and the team's sprinters shine. He will also be valuable during the Classics campaign, given his love for Flanders. He can't wait to give his all with the French team for the next three seasons.
Alex Kirsch's words: "I am very pleased to join the Cofidis team next year. There are several reasons behind my choice. First, I am very happy to be one of Fretin's pilot fish, to use my experience to position him well and help him perform in final sprints. Moreover, I know I will have a bit more freedom in the Flemish classics, which are races close to my heart. I am a very tough rider, a fighter, and I always try to think strategically during races to discover what can have a positive impact for the team. At Lidl-Trek, we gradually grew together as riders like Mads Pedersen, Jasper Stuyven, and myself. I think I can bring my experience to help Cofidis continue to grow. I am very happy to work again with Thierry Marechal, who helped me a lot at the beginning of my career. I would also like to thank the entire Lidl-Trek team for all the years I spent in their colors."
Cédric Vasseur, General Manager of the French team, adds: "I am very pleased to welcome Alex Kirsch to the Cofidis team. He is an experienced rider who will help the team grow through his sporting and human qualities. Alex knows the profession perfectly, has raced at the highest levels in recent years, and has served the interests of riders like Mads Pedersen. With his arrival, we will significantly strengthen our sprinters and Classics group. I am convinced that the partnership with Milan Fretin will be successful and that we will be well-equipped to compete against other sprinters. Furthermore, I am also confident that Alex will be able to seize his opportunity in the Flanders Classics, he who has always put himself at the service of his leaders. At Cofidis, he will have the freedom to shine."
