After conquering victory in this year's spectacular Champs-Élysées stage, Wout Van Aert will lead Team Visma | Lease a Bike at the Lidl Deutschland Tour. With his versatile strengths, van Aert is a potential winner for every stage: from the opening prologue in Essen to the central hilly stage and the final sprint in Magdeburg. Alongside him, among others, is the 19-year-old British rider Matthew Brennan, one of the most winning riders of the season, with eight victories to his credit, including the Rund um Köln.
For his part, Jonathan Milan (Lidl-Trek) is determined to challenge Visma's dominance. The Italian impressed in his Tour de France debut with two stage wins and the Green Jersey and has already won the best sprinter's jersey at last year's Lidl Deutschland Tour, securing three stage wins, specifically the prologue and two rolling stages. Another all-round sprinter to watch is Kaden Groves (Alpecin-Deceuninck). The Australian, also a Tour stage winner, will race the Lidl Deutschland Tour for the first time.
UAE Team Emirates – XRG arrives with a strong lineup, featuring two former overall winners of the Deutschland Tour: Nils Politt and Adam Yates. Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe, on the other hand, focuses on pure speed: sprinters Jordi Meeus and Danny van Poppel, who have been on the podium in each of the last two editions, will be racing. Then there's Uno-X Mobility, which will field a balanced team: with Tobias Halland Johannessen, the Norwegians bring the sixth-place finisher of the Tour de France general classification, who is expected to be a contender in the hilly stages. In the sprints, veteran Alexander Kristoff will try to secure his 100th professional victory.
From a German perspective, all eyes will be on national champion Georg Zimmermann (Intermarché – Wanty), while sprinters Phil Bauhaus (Bahrain Victorious) and Pascal Ackermann (Israel-Premier Tech) will hunt for stage wins. John Degenkolb (Team Picnic PostNL) will make his return to racing at the Lidl Deutschland Tour after more than four months away due to an injury.
