Transnational stage races have always had a special charm: we have had many examples, especially between France and Italy, in the second half of the last century, and now we are on the verge of a... rekindling of this tradition.
Next year, in fact, a new stage race will be born, the "Lyon-Turin - cross-border race". Three days of racing that, to further enrich the challenge, will be held at the beginning of July, immediately before the Tour de France.
Starting in the plains of Lyon, finishing in the plains of Turin, but with plenty of mountains in between, offering the possibility of tackling some of the sacred monsters that have made cycling history along the border between the two countries.
Two nations, two regions like Piedmont and Auvergne Rhône-Alpes, two realities like the metropolitan city of Turin and the Savoie department: these will be the protagonists of a new adventure that, from an organizational perspective, can count on the experience of the French A-VELO and the Italians of Extra-Giro.
