Shortened stage, explosive stage... The nineteenth stage of the Tour de France, Albertville-La Plagne, was originally supposed to be 129.9 km with 4,550 meters of elevation gain. In other words, a tough stage. But last night the organizers decided to shorten it due to an epidemic outbreak discovered in a farm located on the Col de Saisies.

After departing from Albertville, the riders will head towards Beaufort, skipping the Côte d'Héry-sur-Ugine and the Col des Saisies. From km 54 of the original route, the race will resume as planned, offering in quick succession the Col du Pré (Hors Categorie, 12.6 km at 7.7%), the Cormet de Roselend (2nd category, 5.9 km at 6.3%) and the final climb to La Plagne, a Hors Categorie climb measuring 19.1 km at 7.2%. A total of 95 kilometers will be covered.
In other words, it will be essential to warm up perfectly because the start will be extremely fast and recovery opportunities will be minimal.
