The 29th Tour of Tuscany-Michela Fanini Memorial, a pre-world and international women's stage race, returns to Viareggio after 14 years for the first team time trial stage, scheduled for Thursday, September 4th.

This true "race of the heart" dedicated to Lucchese champion Michela Fanini, beloved daughter of patron Brunello Fanini, who passed away in a road accident on her home streets on October 26, 1994, has reached the 29th edition of a successful series.

The honor roll features top athletes of world women's cycling such as Imelda Chiappa, Valeria Cappellotto, Edita Pucinskaite, Zina Stahurskaia, Barbara Heeb, Susanne Ljungskog, Svetlana Bubnenkova, Diana Ziliute, Judith Arndt and up to Cuban Arlenis Sierra, dominator of the last two editions of the race.

The team time trial that will inaugurate Tuscany 2025 will take place from 4 pm onwards over a flat 5-kilometer distance, created along the splendid seafront of the Versilia capital, where teams of six competitors each will battle to conquer the first pink leader's jersey for the general classification. Patron Brunello Fanini and his well-established organizational team of SC Michela Fanini will thus return to Viareggio after the memorable editions experienced in the area from 2006 to 2011. Brunello Fanini openly thanked the Municipal Police, the Law Enforcement of Viareggio, and especially Mayor Giorgio Del Ghingaro, described as a great cycling enthusiast also for the recent hospitality provided to the Giro d'Italia. "Moreover, I will never forget what Viareggio did for me - he recalled emotionally - by naming the bike path in Torre del Lago after my daughter Michela".

At the start of the race, 170 athletes from various nations and grouped into 28 teams are announced (6 World Tour and 8 Italian teams), who will be the subject of a spectacular official presentation to the public, scheduled from 3 pm onwards in Viale Belluomini in Viareggio, the start and finish location.

The other stages of the 29th Tour of Tuscany-Michela Fanini Memorial are Serravalle Pistoiese-Quarrata (start at 1 pm on Friday, September 5th, 112 km), Segromigno in Piano-Segromigno in Piano (start at 1 pm on Saturday, September 6th, 116 km, preceded by a Holy Mass in memory of Michela Fanini, officiated before the start at 10 am) and Lucca-Capannori-Montecatini Terme (start at 12 pm on Sunday, September 7th, 146 km).
